CAL looks for students who want to explore career opportunities and want to be challenged academically and professionally. 

Personal Qualities

CAL is right for students who:

  • Are independent thinkers and learners
  • Enjoy working both with others and on their own
  • Like challenges and can manage the frustrations that often come with them
  • Think creatively—“outside the box”
  • Are mature enough to work in adult settings
  • Meet deadlines and do what is necessary to get a job done
  • Attend school regularly and are able to keep up when they do miss school

 

Skills

CAL is right for students who are able to:

  • Read and write at a 10th-grade level
  • Understand math concepts and perform mathematical calculations at a 10th grade level  (including algebra)
  • Perform basic computer functions (keyboarding, word processing, database, spreadsheets)
  • Work well with others-both students and adults
  • Manage time well

 

Educational Experiences

CAL is right for students who have successfully completed:*

  • 2 years of high school Math (including Algebra) (Reynolds students-Math 200)
  • 2 years of high school English
  • 2 years of high school Science (including Biology or Life Science for those entering the Health Sciences program)

*Successful completion means earning a C or better.
