Entry Requirements
CAL looks for students who want to explore career opportunities and want to be challenged academically and professionally.
Personal Qualities
CAL is right for students who:
- Are independent thinkers and learners
- Enjoy working both with others and on their own
- Like challenges and can manage the frustrations that often come with them
- Think creatively—“outside the box”
- Are mature enough to work in adult settings
- Meet deadlines and do what is necessary to get a job done
- Attend school regularly and are able to keep up when they do miss school
Skills
CAL is right for students who are able to:
- Read and write at a 10th-grade level
- Understand math concepts and perform mathematical calculations at a 10th grade level (including algebra)
- Perform basic computer functions (keyboarding, word processing, database, spreadsheets)
- Work well with others-both students and adults
- Manage time well
Educational Experiences
CAL is right for students who have successfully completed:*
- 2 years of high school Math (including Algebra) (Reynolds students-Math 200)
- 2 years of high school English
- 2 years of high school Science (including Biology or Life Science for those entering the Health Sciences program)
*Successful completion means earning a C or better.
